Romans 12:1-2 – The Way to Find Your Life
“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.”
Today I want to summarize our study on these first two verses of Romans 12. In this section of scripture, we are looking at four relationships that we have in life. Our relationship with God, our relationship with others, our relationship with our enemies, and our relationship with the state or government. The number one relationship, that will make sure all our other relationships are good, is our relationship with God!
Paul tells us in these first two verses that we need to surrender our bodies, our minds and our wills to God. This means that we give the Lord total control over our lives. In the New Testament there is no such thing as partial dedication or discipleship. Jesus is either Lord of all or He is not Lord at all!
Jesus said that if we want to find our lives, we must lose them for His sake and the Gospel’s. Have you ever “lost” your life? My friend, it will only happen when you give up totally the right to yourself in a moment of consecration and dedication. It is putting your life on the altar of sacrifice for the Lord alone!
Oswald Chambers said, “The only right you have, is the right to give up the right to yourself!” And Jim Elliot, the missionary who was martyred in a jungle in South America, said it this way. “He is no fool who gives up that which he cannot keep, to gain that which he cannot lose.”
Have you ever lost your life for Jesus’ sake? That is when you will find it!
God bless!
