THE FATHER: GOD AND FATHER

With it [the tongue] we bless our God and Father, and with it we curse

men, who have been made in the similitude of God.

JAMES 3:9

The Lord is both your God and Father. He's not just your God, who is powerful and far off. But He is also your Father, who is close to help you. Just as Adam was created in the image and likeness of the Lord, you are similar to your earthly father in your physical nature. You have the image of both your physical father and your heavenly Father through the miracle of procreation and birth. But Adam marred the image of God through disobedience, and that image is marred in you. Now you must take a journey back to God to become like Him. Your journey is to become godly like your heavenly Father.

Father, I have a desire to be like You; help me

conform myself into Your likeness.

The Lord is your God and Father; He created you with a rational mind to think. He put within you the capacity for deep emotional feelings, just as He has love for that which is good and hatred for that which is evil. The Father gave you the power of will. Just as the Father has the ability to choose, He allows you the opportunity to make choices in life. Your intellect, emotions and will are the power of personality. You have the power of personhood, just as God does. And what is the purpose of that power? The Father created you with the ability to know Him, to love Him and to choose to worship Him. He is your God and Father; you belong to Him just as an earthly child belongs to its human father.

I worship You, my God and Father, for Your awesome

creation power that formed me in Your image. I want to

be like You; I want to be godly. Amen.
