JESUS: THE FORERUNNER

Where the forerunner has entered for us, even Jesus, having become

High Priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek.

HEBREWS 6:20

Jesus is the Forerunner who has gone to Heaven first for us. Just as a delegation used to send a runner ahead of them to a city to announce their arrival, so Jesus is the Forerunner who went into Heaven to announce the arrival of the Church. He is your Forerunner who has announced your coming to Heaven. Just as a forerunner allows the people of a city to get ready for a delegation, so our Forerunner allows all of Heaven to prepare for our arrival. The Father has prepared a mansion for you (see John 14:1-3), and Jesus is interceding to the Father for you. The angels are waiting for you. Everything is ready because Jesus is the Forerunner who prepared the way.

Lord Jesus, I face death with more confidence, knowing that

You’ve gone before me to Heaven. My doubts fade when I realize

You’re waiting for me. I don’t want to die, but at least I can look

beyond death to see You waiting for me.

Not only has Jesus gone as the Forerunner to prepare Heaven, but He also is now your Intercessor who stands at the right hand of the Father, interceding for you to overcome temptation and to make the trip triumphantly. So live confidently this day, because Jesus is preparing Heaven for you. He is praying for you as you journey homeward.

Lord Jesus, I know You stand at the right hand of the Father, making

intercession for me. Because You are in Heaven, I pray confidently

and I live with assurance. Amen.
