JESUS: A SON OVER HIS OWN HOUSE
But Christ as a Son over His own house, whose house we are if we hold fast the
confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm to the end.
HEBREWS 3:6
Jesus is the Son over His Own House. Just as Levi was the first priest in Israel's genealogy, so Jesus is the first priest in New Testament salvation. Just as Aaron was the first priest who interceded for Israel in the Tabernacle, so Jesus is the High Priest who will intercede for you in Heaven. All believers are members of Jesus' house, and He will intercede to the Father for them. How can He intercede for you today?
Jesus, be my Intercessor to the Father. Every time I slip into sin,
intercede to the Father for my forgiveness. Every time the Evil One
comes to tempt me, protect me by Your intercession.
Jesus is the Son over His Own House; "He is also able to save to the uttermost those who come to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them" (Hebrews 7:25). So take your problems to Jesus, trust Him, and let Him be your Intercessor. As your Intercessor, Jesus "does not need daily, as those high priests, to offer up sacrifices" (v. 27). He doesn't need to offer sacrifices daily for His sin because He is "holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners" (v. 26). He is the Son forevermore (see v. 28). So come into His house for help to solve your problems; let Jesus be your Intercessor.
Lord, I know that "the blood of Jesus Christ ... cleanses us from all sin"
(1 John 1:7), so I rest calmly in Your house. I know
You will intercede to the Father for me. Amen.
Reading: Hebrews 3
