God’s Promises Fulfilled In Jesus

Romans 15:8-13

“For I tell you that Christ became a servant to the circumcised to show God’s truthfulness, in order to confirm the promises given to the patriarchs, and in order that the Gentiles might glorify God for his mercy. As it is written, “Therefore I will praise you among the Gentiles, and sing to your name.” (vs 8-9)

I like how Paul started this verse, “For I tell you….” It’s like he is emphasizing that you really need to pay attention to this! Notice several things that should encourage us and give us hope today in a hopeless world.

He starts with Jesus Christ! He tells us the Messiah, the Anointed One, became a servant. Jesus Himself said that he didn’t come to be served but to serve and give His life a ransom for many. The word servant here is also translated “ministry” in many other passages. Jesus came to minister to hurting and hopeless people.

I want to remind you today, that Jesus still ministers to those who are lonely, those who are in pain and suffering, and those who have lost their way. The Bible says that Jesus came to seek and to save those who are lost! He will leave the ninety and nine in the fold to go into the wilderness to find the one lost sheep and rejoices more over the one found than the ninety and nine that were in the fold.

Christ birth, His life, His death and His resurrection manifested God’s truthfulness and confirmed, fulfilled all the promises that God made in the Old Testament! You ask me where you can find God. I tell you, you can always find God in the person of Jesus Christ!

Then Paul says, this is so that we Gentiles might glorify God for His mercy! It is because of God’s mercy, His loving kindness that we can experience hope and life in this present world! And when we receive God’s great salvation we fulfill the purpose that we were created for, and that is to glorify God!

God bless!
