“We Have Seen and Testify…”
1 John 4:12-14 “No one has seen God at any time. If we love one another, God abides in us, and His love has been perfected in us. By this we know that we abide in Him, and He in us, because He has given us of His Spirit. And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent the Son as Savior of the world.”
Yesterday in our morning service I officially stepped down as Senior Pastor of Rainbow Forest Baptist Church and pass the mantle of leadership over to Pastor John Richardson. Today Edith and I begin a new season of life and ministry continuing to fulfill the calling that the Lord placed on our lives fifty years ago. Years ago I realized that God didn’t call me to a position but that He call me to a ministry.
If you remember my testimony, I initially thought God called me to be a “missionary” to a foreign country. But I never went to a foreign country as an official “missionary”. Yet over the years as a pastor or a local church here in the states, I found that I could be on “mission” with God wherever I was. I did get the wonderful privilege of going to over a dozen foreign countries on over eighty plus trips.
So today I will continue to be on “mission” with God doing the same thing I’ve been doing for over fifty years. By the grace of God, I will continue to fulfill the “ministry of reconciliation”. (2 Corinthians 5) And that is what this Pastor’s Chat is about as I attempt to encourage you to join me in this wonderful ministry through studying God’s Word together. There is a broken world full of broken people all around us and they need to know how they can find the peace that they are looking for through reconciling with God through His Son Jesus Christ.
