Looking Into the Face of Jesus Christ

Jude 1:24-25 “Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling, And to present you faultless Before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy, To God our Savior, Who alone is wise, Be glory and majesty, Dominion and power, Both now and forever. Amen.”

The Apostle Paul tells us in 2 Corinthians 4:4 that “the god of this age has blinded the minds of those who do not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them”. And then he went on to say: “For it is the God who commanded light to shine out of darkness, who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ” (2 Corinthians 4:6).

Remember in Romans 3:23 we learn that “all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God”. God’s mark or purpose for every human being is the “glory of God”. The Greek word for sin actually means, “to miss the mark.” No matter how hard we try with good deeds, with religion, with acts of generosity, we never can reach the “glory of God”. The glory of God is the sum total of all that God is! His holiness, His justice, His love, and everything about Him is glorious!

The problem is that we are looking in all the wrong places to find and come to the knowledge of His glory! The glory of God is found only in the face of Jesus Christ! The face of a person is the reflection of everything that the person is. Our face reflects our heart, our soul! Just by looking in the face and eyes of an individual you can see into their mind and soul. Their face tells us what they are thinking and what they are feeling!

If you want to know and experience the “glory of God” you must have your eyes opened by the Holy Spirit of God to look into the face of Jesus Christ! There you will see His grace, His mercy, His love, and His desire for you to be forgiven and a part of His forever family!

When you study the book of Revelation and get a glimpse of what is happening in heaven for all eternity you will immediately notice that all the activity there is centered around giving glory to God. “Whenever the living creatures give glory and honor and thanks to Him who sits on the throne, who lives forever and ever, the twenty-four elders fall down before Him who sits on the throne and worship Him who lives forever and ever, and cast their crowns before the throne, saying: "You are worthy, O Lord, To receive glory and honor and power; For You created all things, And by Your will they exist and were created." (Revelation 4:9-11)

The great worship scene in Revelation 5:11-13 describes it this way: “Then I looked, and I heard the voice of many angels around the throne, the living creatures, and the elders; and the number of them was ten thousand times ten thousand, and thousands of thousands, saying with a loud voice: "Worthy is the Lamb who was slain To receive power and riches and wisdom, And strength and honor and glory and blessing!" And every creature which is in heaven and on the earth and under the earth and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, I heard saying: "Blessing and honor and glory and power Be to Him who sits on the throne, And to the Lamb, forever and ever!"

It seems to me if giving glory to God is what heaven and all eternity is about, then we should be doing the same thing right now here on earth! Today, are you living for His glory! Far too many of us are living for our own glory. May the Lord give us grace today to “look into the face of Jesus Christ”!

God bless!
