Today, Thursday December 10 – James 5 – As we look at the last chapter of this book, James seems to conclude with the same theme that he started with, patience! A mark of a mature person is one who is patient with others, and with circumstances beyond his control. As believers we are blessed with the knowledge of the second coming of Jesus Christ. This gives us great hope and will give us patience when we are wronged. (vv. 1-11) This hope will cause us to be pure in our speech. In other words, we will mean what we say, and say what we mean, and always be truthful and keep our promises. (vs. 12) This hope will encourage us to be prayerful in our trials, sufferings and afflictions. “Is any among you sick or suffering? Let him pray….” (vs. 13) We are so quick to run to others when we encounter a problem or a difficult situation, seeking to gain sympathy or help. And for sure others can help us, but no one can help us like the God of heaven! The first thing we should always do about anything and everything, is PRAY! That simply means we take a moment, from the heart, to call upon the Name of God and ask for His mercy, His grace, and His aid in our time of need! “Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.” (Hebrews 4:16) Today, are you praying? God bless!
