Romans 8:31-34 What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things? Who shall bring a charge against God's elect? It is God who justifies. Who is he who condemns? It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us.
These four verses have to be among the most encouraging verses in all the Bible! Paul has been teaching us all about the provisions and powerful ministry of the Holy Spirit in our lives in this great chapter. He is now coming to the conclusion and he begins it by asking a question. “If God is for us, who can be against us?”
As I think and meditate on this great proclamation, I cannot help but think of a verse way back in Genesis 42:36, “And Jacob their father said to them, "You have bereaved me: Joseph is no more, Simeon is no more, and you want to take Benjamin. All these things are against me." Jacob was looking at all the circumstances surrounding his family and life at this moment in time and his conclusion was that everything was against him!
Have you ever felt that way? Maybe it doesn’t just feel like it, but it is obvious that family has turned against you. Friends, co-workers, fellow believers, neighbors have turned their backs on you. When this happens, it is very easy to get discouraged and really want to give it all up! But here, we are reminded, though everything and everyone has turned against us, God is still for us and He proved it by giving us His Son to die for us!
Just when Jacob thought everything was against him, little did he realize in a few short days he would find out that God had been at work all along and he would see his beloved son Joseph again! And not only would he see him, he would find out that his son, Joseph, was one of the most powerful people in the world, in charge and control of all Egypt.
Wow! What can we say? AWESOME!!!!!! Thank the Lord! We don’t need to be discouraged and quit! Our God is always for us!!!!!!
God bless!
