Romans 11 – God Never Gives Up
Paul begins this chapter with a question that is really at the heart of these three chapters (9-11). Romans 11:1-2a “I say then, has God cast away His people?...” Then Paul answers his own question: “Certainly not! For I also am an Israelite, of the seed of Abraham, of the tribe of Benjamin. God has not cast away His people whom He foreknew….”.
The practical application for us from this passage is to learn, that God always keeps His promises and never gives up on us or anyone for that matter. Because of Israel’s unbelief and trying to establish their own righteousness by keeping the Law, they were temporarily set on the shelf. But God even had a purpose in this, because now He would extend His mercy and salvation to the Gentiles! (vs. 11-24)
And Paul makes it very clear that one day in the future, God would again visit His people. Romans 11:25-26 “For I do not desire, brethren, that you should be ignorant of this mystery, lest you should be wise in your own opinion, that blindness in part has happened to Israel until the fullness of the Gentiles has come in. And so all Israel will be saved, as it is written: "The Deliverer will come out of Zion, And He will turn away ungodliness from Jacob;”
There is nothing too hard for the Lord! Just like God never gives up on His people, or on us, we should never give up on anyone. No matter how difficult and hard the person or circumstance might appear, we can rest assured that God is still at work fulfilling His purpose and promises!
Today, thank God for His faithfulness and put your hope and trust in Him and in His Word!
God bless!
