Today, Saturday May 22
It’s Personal Colossians 1:21-22 And you, who once were alienated and hostile in mind, doing evil deeds, he has now reconciled in his body of flesh by his death, in order to present you holy and blameless and above reproach before him,
Paul has been speaking about the preeminence of Jesus Christ. He in preeminent because He is the creator of all things. He is preeminent because He is the head of the body, the church! The book of Colossians is reminding us that we must not dethrone Jesus Christ by listening to the false philosophies of the world and get caught up in things that can never complete us or satisfy us.
The way Paul begins the verse before us today is very interesting! After he has lifted Jesus up and made sure that we know that it really is all about Jesus, Paul comes down to us, and assures us that Jesus is all about us. You should be all about Jesus because Jesus is all about you.
“And you…”. Yes, you!!!!!! It is for you that Jesus robed Himself in human flesh so that He could die your death for you. And Jesus did this for you even though you were in a mental state of fighting against God, an enemy of God, living a wicked life, and doing evil deeds.
I love Romans 5:8; “But God commended, manifested His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” My friend, please be encouraged today by this passage where Paul comes down to where we are!
We can never reach up to God by our religion or good deeds and even Isaiah the prophet wrote in Isaiah 64:6, “But we are all like an unclean thing, And all our righteousnesses are like filthy rags; We all fade as a leaf, And our iniquities, like the wind, Have taken us away.” But thank God, He came down to us, to you! And He did this in the person of His Son Jesus Christ!
It is personal! God’s love and salvation is for you so that one day you can stand before Him holy, blameless and without reproach! And this is all because of being redeemed, reconciled, recovered, and restored back to God by the blood of the cross of His dear Son!
God bless!
