“The Truth or the Lie”
2 John 1:1-4 “The Elder, To the elect lady and her children, whom I love in truth, and not only I, but also all those who have known the truth, because of the truth which abides in us and will be with us forever: Grace, mercy, and peace will be with you from God the Father and from the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father, in truth and love. I rejoiced greatly that I have found some of your children walking in truth, as we received commandment from the Father.”
John starts out this epistle using the word truth at least four times. If there was ever a time we need the truth it is today. We are being overwhelmed with lies from every direction today! I’m convinced that there is only one place to find reality and that is in Jesus Christ and His Word!
Jesus claimed Himself to be the “truth”. “I am the way, the truth and the life, no one can come to the Father but by me.” (John 14:6). All truth comes from Jesus Christ and knowing the truth sets us free!
All lies comes from the evil one, Satan. Jesus told the religious crowd of his day, “You are of your father the devil, and the lust of your father you will do, he is a murderer from the beginning and has nothing to do with the truth, because no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks out of his own character, for he is a liar and the father of lies.” (John 8:44)
So we have a choice every day to either listen to the lies of the evil one and live in those lies or we can listen to the truth of Jesus and His Word and enjoy real joy and peace!
